The Box:

The Humidor box is from a stoggy smoking friend of mine. He gets the boxes from Thompson Cigar when he buys a quantity. The humidifier (hygrometer) stuff is removed . The box looses it's cedar odor after a while.

The first insert:

The first tray was a grid of 9. This was too small to be practicle.

The supplies:

I ordered the wood from Sciplus on a lark. It's venetian blind slats that are 1/8" thick and 2" wide. I picked up the felt (it's not real felt) in a local fabric store, boy did I get some weird looks when I walked in. I originally bought the material for a 3d glass front knife display box. The foam padding came from the Foam Padding store, I love NYC, on Canal Street. I already had the Glue Gun and sticks for it.

The cushions are 3" x 3" square. This is just a bit small for watches but they do work. I got the cushions from Jewelry Supply . They have 4" cushions as well as watch stands and boxes.

The final insert:

A 6 grid results in a box of ~3" x 3.5".

Some assembly required:

I cut the foam for padding under the felt where the bracelet or strap will touch the insert. This also adds some friction so the watches don't move around in the box. The felt strips are cut against a board with a razor knife to avoid a jagged edge. The foam is glued to the side of the insert with hot melt glue. Glue is then applied to the top edge of the insert and the felt is pressed into place. Then I ran a bead of glue across the bottom in front of both pieces of foam. I continued this until I got to the other side of the insert. I trimmed the excess and that's it.

Just add watches:

You can see that the cushions are a little tight.
