Family Queries

Following are queries re a number of family puzzles. If you have answers, connections, corrections, insights, let me know.

• May (Mary) BANEY (my great grandmother), born March 1868, Michigan. (Father, name unknown, born in Germany; Mother, name also unknown, born in NY.) Married 1886, Matthew Herbert Allison, son of Matthew Corry Allison and Frances Rachel Ekin of Xenia, OH. Two sons died young, daughter, Dorothy Allison, born Dec 1890, Nashville, TN. Living in Brooklyn, NY 1900 with husband, Matthew, daughter Dorothy, and mother-in-law Frances Allison. Husband Matthew, a hemp broker, died and was buried in St. Louis, MO in 1901. Daughter, Dorothy was taken in by her husband’s sister, Fredrika Allison Whitelaw, shortly afterward. No record of May anywhere, but family lore says she died around the same time. She was not buried with her husband, however. Where and when did May die? Where is she buried? Who were her parents? Where were she and her husband married? • William MACKEY (McKee) (my gggreat grandfather), born before 1809, “old Virginia”. One daughter, Eliza Jane Mackey, by first wife (name unknown). Married second Mary Sinnard 1825, Warren County, OH. Three sons, William Sinnard Mackey, (born 1830 Franklin, OH), James Mackey and Thomas J. Mackey. Living in Galena, IL, 1844. Died 1858, CA. Where in Virginia did he come from? Who were his parents? Who was his first wife? Where exactly did he die? What happened to his brothers, James and Thomas? • Tryal (Trial) ALLYN (Allen) (another gggreat grandfather), born 14 Apr 1744, Groton, CT. Supposed son of Samuel Allyn & Hannah Avery. Married first Mary Morgan. Son William Alexander Allyn born Nov 1768, Groton, CT. Married second, “Lizzie”. Son Griswold Allyn, born 1797, married Betsey Chappell, daughter Edward Chappell and Mary Chapman. Are his parents’ names correct? Is there any documentation to support it? What was the full name of his wife, Lizzie? If you have any information, send me an E-mail.
