General Interest Genealogical web links
[A little stale.]
Following are some of the sites I find most useful/interesting. There are tens of
thousands of others, and it's been a while since I've been out there, so there
are probably ones that are significantly more interesting.
Comprehensive sites:
To explore the thousands of genealogy resources the web has to offer, you cant go
wrong with the following three sites:
- genealogy.com, a commercial site with
nice search capabilities and lots of useful guidance. ancestry.com is
similar, if not actually identical.
- Cyndis List, the grandmother of all
genealogy sites containing links to tens of thousands of other genealogical resources.
- US GenWeb Project, a comprehensive
state-by-state, county-by-county collection of research information.
Recording, tracking and publishing your own research:
- TMG (The Master Genealogist) is, in my opinion,
the best program available for managing a genealogical project. Dont miss it if
youre serious about genealogical research.
- GED2HTML is the program I used to create
the linked family tree used in these pages. It takes a a standard GEDCOM file and creates
a series of linked HTML files containing a dynamic family tree.
