The Bracelet

I've been half heartedly trying to find a replacement bracelet for the watch. It's got 24mm hooded lugs. So far no E.tailer seems to have any.

The original 24mm pins are 2 piece jobs. I watched one end of one go flying across the room when I detached the bracelet the first time.

I tried a 22mm Shark strap but with the 2 piece pins it didn't work too well and a strap was a somewhat tight fit under the hooded lugs.

Don Ginsler

Don has some nice straps in 24mm and he helped out with the springbars. Some Panerais' are 24mm.
Here's a pic with the a padded Shark in 24mm.

It was nice ,but I really wanted a bracelet like the original.

"Here's the "you never know" part"

On Wedneday I'm sitting on the train on the way home. I usually see the same people everyday. I peek over my book, Clive Cussler ( Atlantis Found), and I spot a guy wearing a quartz sports watch. I didn't really notice the watch at first, it was the bracelet that caught my eye.

We get near the last stop, where most everyone is going, and I ask

"What kinda' watch is that",

"It's a Freefall", (or something like that)

"That's a nice bracelet on there",

"Oh, it didn't come with the watch, it came with a flimsy metal one, I got this one at Wolf's",

"I know Wolf's, he's across from Zum Stammtisch" (local german restaurant)

"Yea, that's the one"

Like I said, this was on Wednesday and Wolf's is only open till 6.

I got up with just one mission on Saturday. Go to the Wolf's. I slip on my Gold Accutron daydate and head out.

I got there about 11:30, it's a typical neighborhood place. He buzzes me in. I walk to the back and take the Seiko and original bracelet out of a zipper Breitling case. The watch now has the shark strap on it. I tell Wolf what I'm looking for.

He walks around passed a large revolving Hadley Roma display case, reaches under the counter, pulls out something and walks back to the counter.

It's the same SS Bracelet I saw on the train. I can tell it's not 24mm, but he proceeds to put it on the watch.

"Oh it's an automatic ha, you collect watches"

"Yes, I have a few"

He removes the Strap and pops the bracelet on

"It's not the right size" (It's a 20mm)

"That's OK I'll get some ss tubing"

He slips it on my thin wrist, pops it off, adjusts it, and pops it back on.

"How much"

"$15.00"

"You have another one"

"Yes, you want it"

"Yes"

Bracelet New and Old.

With the Shark strap on the left.
