Cabinet Installed MTE Winder
The MTE Winder
I finally got tired of looking at the winders sitting on top of the cabinet.
Instead of drilling a 1 1/2" hole for the plug we can drill a much smaller hole for just the wire.
Here's the procedure for removing the wires from inside the winder.
The first step is to remove the rubber feet from the bottom. They pull right off and the bottom plate can be removed as well.

The circuit board can be lifted out of the unit.
The Green ground wire is attached to a screw terminal with a phillips metal screw and star washer.
Before and After removing the ground wire.

The Black and White wires are connected to the circuit board with compression screws.

Be sure to write down were the wire go. They may be different depending on the model.

Now that the wires are free of the unit we can pull the wire keeper from the case.
I used a pair of needle nose pliers around the keeper from the outside and pulled and twisted until the keeper came free.

I drilled three 11/32 holes through the top of my bookcase. One in the middle and one in each corner.

After fishing the wire through the hole in the cabinet, replace the wire keeper and feed the wires into the winder. I used a regular pair fo pliers to replace the keeper.
While the space in the jaws of the pliers held the wire, I pressed down on the keeper until the 4 teeth caught inside the unit.
Reinstall the 3 wires, slide the curcuit board home and set the bottom of the unit in place. The three rubber feet can be pushed back on.

The 30" x 11" shelf can easily hold 3 winder.
